  • GroupWise is administered by SCC, seperate from the implementation on main campus. The two GroupWise systems share an address book.

FAQ

Is my email secure?

  • Yes. If you are using the GroupWise client or WebAccess, the data streams are encrypted. The files on the server are encrypted and can only be read by the owner.

Is my email data backed-up?

  • Yes. The GroupWise server is backed up nightly and the data is retained for two weeks. The primary purpose is to recover data lost in the unlikely event of catastrophic server failure. The backup software is not designed to recover individual emails that were mistakenly deleted.

Do I have to use the GroupWise client?

  • No. The GroupWise server supports all POP3,IMAP and SOAP clients. If one chooses to use a different client, one becomes resposible for its support. Full tech support is available for the GroupWise client.
  • The GroupWise client and Outlook are the only clients capable of using the extended functionality such as address books and shared calendars.

What email addresses can I use?

  • GroupWise users receive emails sent to their username@domain, where domain = the following:
    • aero.und.edu
    • cs.und.edu
    • space.edu
    • aviation.und.edu
    • atmos.und.edu
    • umac.org
  • Every GroupWise user has a choice as to which one of these is displayed as their contact information and their sent-from address. Please contact the helpdesk if you want to change this address.
