Using Caching mode with GroupWise

In caching mode the GroupWise client pulls your emails from your local computer rather than the server. The benefits to caching mode include: Access to your email when the server is down, faster response time when going through your email messages, and less strain on the server.

Switching to Caching Mode

  • Click File –> Mode –> Caching.

directory (You may not see this dialog if the directory already exists)

  • Click OK to set that directory as the Caching Mailbox.

createfolder (if this folder is already created you will not see this dialog box)

  • Click Yes to create the folder.

enterpw

  • Enter your GroupWIse password and click OK.

password

  • Click Yes to use the same password for your Caching and Online Mailbox.

status

This is the Status Window. It shows you all that has been downladed so far. By clicking Hide the box will disappear but the caching process will still be taking place in the background.

  • Click Hide

restart

  • Click Yes to restart GroupWise for the changes to take effect.

Once you have restarted GroupWise everything will function like it did before you switched to caching. The only difference you will notice is that instead of saying Online it will say Caching, as shown in the picture below.
